Today almost everyone has heard about the term Artificial Intelligence or they are familiar with the concept because of the movies (The one in the terminator or JARVIS in the Iron Man). The movie portraits an extremely developed and matured version of a complex AI which could be what we are aiming for but today we are about 5-15 years far from achieving that level of complexity. That doesn’t mean that AI is not getting used today. Even though today we are using AI’s that are working in a very narrow scope, different AI’s are still being a part of our day to day life and also many artificial intelligence companies are continuously advancing in this field.
So the question arises where do we use this cutting edge technology in our day to day life?
The answer would be quite shocking as we see AI as some exclusive, experimental technology that is beyond the reach of the masses. But it is actually incorporated with our life and we are interacting with AI’s probably more than we are interacting with humans. From the wearable’s that analyses and predict your sleep state to the automatic home lights, from getting personalized feed on Facebook to the more availability of Uber in the busy area all of this is happening because somewhere some AI is analyzing the data creating patterns and suggesting decisions and sometimes even making them.
Today the biggest Fantasy sports platform in India called the Dream11 is using AI to solve their 3000% seasonal increase in their queries from their customer base of 40 million all of it by spending 1/30th of the resource that would have to be used if they have taken the traditional solution of increasing their manpower and started more customer service centers and hired more customer service executives.
Nowadays more and more phones are coming with the facial unlock feature that even gets good with the use so guess who is responsible for all of that. You guessed it right AI. We are surrounded by AI and we do not even realize it. Every Google search you make use of AI to give you the results. The ads you see on the pages or blogs you visit is also AI analyzing your data and suggesting ads and in return creating targeted traffic for the websites. Virtual assistants like Google Now and Siri use AI to understand the questions from their users and then decide what would be an appropriate response to the query. The Google assistant now use duplex AI to even mimic human conversations by using pauses in the computerized speech to complete the daily task of an assistant like booking a table at a restaurant or booking an appointment for a haircut.
All these examples suggest that a full-fledged AI like JARVIS may become an actual thing in the future but we are also using AI in our everyday life to make our life easier and eliminate time-consuming repeating tasks. It is also not only constrained to the everyday tasks the AI technology can even be used to do work for which we would need an expert or a specialist for example today we are using AI to perform surgeries on humans also many artificial intelligence companies can benefit from this technology. So we can conclude that whether or not this technology will be the biggest mistake of the human race and turn into evil robots is not known but what we are perfectly sure about is that AI will help us in the coming years to make human life easier.
