The tech community has been amazed by the BlockChain development technology and its revolutionizing applications for the means we store our data in web & mobile applications. The potential use of this tech is such that now everyone is after this technology to incorporate it with their applications. Now like any other computer technology, blockchain is also designed through programming language to specify our requirements, configuration, and the functionality of the application we are creating. So these are the programming languages that can help us in creating Blockchains.
C++:
C++ is a language created from 1979 to 1998 as an extension to the language C and including the Classes and object concepts to it. It is a general-purpose high-level compiled language that is used to design applications while keeping memory constraints and performance in mind. C++ gives the user more control over the memory and it can also be used for interactions over numerous end-points simultaneously which makes it suitable for the blockchain where we need to interact with different users and miners over many endpoints simultaneously and spontaneously and that is why applications of blockchain like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple were all written in C++.
Java:
Java is one of the most popular and used programming languages in the world. It was created in 1995 and now is owned by the company oracle. The language was created while keeping architecture independence and low dependencies in mind, especially for the client server web applications. All of the above-mentioned features are also very helpful in the blockchain as it would need server-client communication. It is going to be used worldwide and across different types of devices so it would be great to have hardware architecture independence and blockchains are deployed once and are immutable to low dependencies to help blockchain development using libraries like BitcoinJ, Web3j, and HyperLedger Fabric.
Python:
Python was created by a Dutch developer named Guido van Rossum in 1991. It was made with the intention of keeping the syntax simple and minimalistic. Today it is one of the most popular languages and is most preferred by the developers due to the requirement of less time and resources needed to create new applications. It has huge community support for creating libraries and finding and solving bugs in the language making it robust and suitable for blockchain development.
Simplicity:
Simplicity was developed by Russel O’Connor for creating smart contracts for blockchain technology. It is said to be an improved version of the Bitcoin Script and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It uses static analysis to predict the gas price that would be needed to execute the gas price so that the “Not Enough Gas” errors could be avoided. The company Blockstream which made this language hopes that the language will be included in the blockchain after it has been examined.
Solidity:
Solidity was developed by the Ethereum project team. It is a contract based, an object-oriented high-level language that is used to write smart contracts. It is used to enhance the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It is statically typed which means it checks for the errors while coding not during compiling. It is currently the most popular among the programming languages that are being used for smart contract development and by the amount of information and tutorials that are being produced on this language; it looks like it is going to be the most preferred language in the future too for the development of the smart contracts.
So, there are several options of languages to program a blockchain though solidity being most popular amongst the lot.
